History:
Townships are a product of Michigan's early history. Michigan is one of 20 states that currently has some form of township government. There are 1242 townships in Michigan.
Madison Township was organized March 7, 1834 and became a Charter Township in 1980. Madison Township is located in the southern part of Lenawee County
Geograhic:
The township is comprised of a total of 30.9 square miles of which 30.7 square mile of it is land and 0.2 is water
Demographics:
Last census taken in 2000 Madison had a population of 8,200 with 2191 households and with 1,676 familes residing in the township. The population density was 267.4 per square mile. There are 2,399 housing units at an average density of 78.2 square miles.

Monthly Board meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 P.M.
